Make a Drawing From a Photo (A Fun & Easy Guide!)

Have you ever seen a cool photo sketch online and wondered how to make one yourself? Recently, I saw a wonderful image of Audrey Hepburn transformed into a sketch in a Facebook reel and decided to see if I could do the same with one of my own photos using Meta AI.

It turned out to be surprisingly easy! If you'd like to try it out too, here is how I did it.

Getting Started with Meta AI

First off, what is Meta AI? It is a versatile virtual assistant built right into apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook, on the web at Meta AI, and on devices like Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

• Where to find it: Look for the blue-and-purple ring symbol inside your Messenger app on your cell phone.
  
  
• Note: Meta AI works best for creating drawings and photos directly inside the mobile app rather than on the PC version. 

This is the result I was looking for, and I will show you how I used Meta to do it. 

 

I saw Audrey Hepburn in a Facebook reel and I thought it would be nice to make one of my photos into a sketch and decided to use Meta Ai. Look for this Blue symbol in your Messenger App

I started the conversation with Meta by telling it what to do and clicked the + sign to add the photo I had clipped from a video.

Step-by-Step: How to Make Your Sketch

1. Open the App & Chat: Open your Messenger app and look for the Meta AI icon. You can talk to it just like you would talk to a friend.
   
   
2. Add Your Photo: Tap the + sign in the chat to upload a photo (in my case, I used a quick screenshot I clipped from a video).
   
   
3. Give Your Instructions: Send a message telling the assistant what you'd like to do. For example, I asked:
   
   

   "Can you make my photo into a sketch like Audrey's? Then convert her photo too?"

   
   

4. Combine and Create: Once the individual sketches are ready, you can reply and ask the assistant to combine them into one image!

A Quick Tip on AI Safety

Have fun exploring Meta AI! It’s a safe and friendly app, but as a good rule of thumb when using any AI tool, be careful not to share last names, contact information, or sensitive personal data. We are all still learning how this technology handles information, so it's best to keep your personal details private.
