In the photo above you can see a screenshot of a Gmail account. It has 2 Tabs for my Emails - Primary and Promotions Tabs. Gmail sorts my emails and automatically puts Promotion Emails in the Promotion Tab. I decided a long time ago that I will use my Primary for the email I want to see and my Promotion Tab for Junk, spam, and promotions I don't want to see on a regular basis.
When I see an email in my Primary Tab that I do not want to see rather than delete it or mark it as spam and have it show up again in several weeks, I click on it and select it and drag it to the Promotions TAB and drop it.
A note will pop up asking if you want to do this for all future messages. I select YES.
I have noticed that once a spammer gets your email, they will continue to find a way to spam you so I put it in a TAB folder where I can easily delete hundreds of them at a time later. I do not waste time marking it as spam or going in and trying to unsubscribe because I have not found that is a permanent way to get rid of the junk email. Technically, my method doesn't get rid of it, it just moves it to another tab where I can flush and delete it once a month a long with all the other junk emails.
Now once a month, I take a look at my Promotions Tab and see if there is anything of interest and then I click to select all of the emails, 92 in this case and then I click the trash can Icon and delete them all at one time.
It just takes seconds to drag and drop the scam & promotion emails into my Promotion tab. Later on, it just takes seconds to go to the Promotions Tab and delete all of them at one time.
You may ask why I don't mark all of the emails in the promotion Tab as spam and my answer is - you could but I do get some promotions in this tab that I do want from time to time and of course when I see a promotion email in the Promotion Tab that I want to see regularly, I drag it to my Primary Tab.
